Vehicles that Utilize Similar Mazda Engines

The Mazda engines used in the Satoh Bison S650G was also used in a variety of vehicles and equipment. When searching for parts at an auto parts store these vehicles may be of benefit.

The Satoh S650G shares its engine with numerous vehicles from around the world. Unfortunately many were not available in the U.S. but knowing them may still be of benefit when searching for parts. Here is a list of vehicles and equipment that utilized one of the two available engine’s offered in the S650G (Mazda PB 100 987cc or TA/TB 1169cc)

  1. 1971 Mazda 1200 Truck (TA/TB) – many forum users have reported success having NAPA auto parts search for parts for this model truck to find compatible replacement parts.
  2. Yale Forklifts (PB 100) – manufactured from 1971 – 1973
  3. Some International IH284 Tractors had a PB 100
  4. (Australia) Mazda Bongo Vans (PB 100) – manufactured from 1968 – 1978
  5. (Australia) Mazda Familia 1000 Sedan (PB 100) – manufactured from 1967 – 1968
  6. (Australia) Mazda Familia 1000 Pickup (PB 100) – manufactured from 1967 – 1978
  7. (Australia) Mazda Familia 1000 Coupe (PB 100) – manufactured from 1966 – 1968

The Mazda Familia line primarily used in Japan and Australia offered numerous nameplates over the years:  800, 1000, 1200, and 1300. The 1000 series utilized the PB engine found in our Satoh tractors, the 1200 series had the TB, and the newer 1300 models had the TC engine. All of the engines utilized in these vehicles were similar Mazda OHV engines. Although we are unsure, these engines may have shared the same block and it has been found that the PB, TB, and TC engines appear to use the same connecting rod bearings, not sure if the main bearings are the same. The PB and TB engines are for sure are similar engines that were utilized between 1961 and 1974. The newer 1272cc TC (1300) engine was utilized from 1965 – 1984.

In North America the 1200/1300 engine was used in some vehicles. For example the Mazda GLC “Great Little Car” was the pre 1977 name for Mazda’s car line that was rebranded as the 323 and Protegé.  We have not confirmed it but it is possible other internal engine parts may be the same or compatible with the TC engine and the earlier PB/TB so keep that in mind that if you are ever comparing parts in a parts store such as NAPA.
